Episode 161

Fatty Arbuckle! :o Who'da thunk it? I gather Paulie decided that maybe Fatty didn't have that 'little problem' by '27 (if I recall, it was in '25...?) so maybe he gained in stature (and girth, too, maybe) to be included in the story.
This whole adventure is frankly getting more 'n' more exciting! Good job, Paulie! Keep it up!!! (So cannot wait 'til Palm Sunday to see what next)
:D

Um, I STILL haven't spotted what you guys are referring to, and I've scanned this chapter very carefully. According to Wikipedia, Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle was charged with rape and murder in 1921, acquitted after three trials in 1922 but never recovered his career, eventually dying in 1933 at age 46. A sad chapter in human history, and proof that the blood lust of the Roman Coliseum is alive and well in modern times.
The tide is out; please leave a message.

to Kona: I was off by a couple of years but if I recall that one case (that was retried again) was NOT the only one Fatty was accused of but that he got caught in.
Paulie's story takes up a 'slightly' different history; one just tweeked off the original timeline where maybe Fatty got the hint and cleaned up his act a bit better by time the events of TFC take place (or at least hid it better). Personally I think Fatty had the potential to go into talkies if'n he'd've gotten his head on right. A 'Chaplainesque'-style comedian who could've been going on 'til the mid-/late-50s. Kind of a latch-key connect to the Howards (3 Stooges) or played along with Oliver Hardy or Stan Laurel. Just consider it, is all.... JIM
