The opening paragraph of each setting describing the routine rattles & hums from main engineering...very nice. Well done, Paul.

Yeah, Reverend, that is quite a coup on Paulie's part. I'm curious [yellow] as to how this'll all play out.
I look forward to each epie & the scene setting that PG puts in such as in VOAT increase my interest muchly.
AND....after all, Pastor....the Engineering section is what keeps things moving on ANY ship, isn't that so?

As a former snipe who spent the majority of his lackluster naval career on the fireroom side of the bulkhead, yep, no fire means no bubbles. No bubbles, no go.

I'm glad everyone enjoyed the 'local color' in this episode. It was one of those ideas
that comes out of nowhere. I'd written an early draft, was trying to come up with
some better way to describe the settings -- the original descriptions were intolerably
lame -- when suddenly it occurred to me, "Gosh, why not just compare all the
interesting noises the different engineering plants would make?" We must offer our
thanks to whatever muse is in charge of these things.

That hypothetical 10-guage Browning automatic shotgun (blam!) was less of a success.
It's been too long since I've handled the real-world's 12-guage, and I couldn't find a
picture with the right perspective, so the receiver didn't come out right. Oh well. At
least it was fun putting in that little engraving of a wolf passant. This may become
part of the Warfield coat of arms.

Lord Warfield really wanted Fabrique Nationale to make him an 8-guage (very loud
blam!), but those unimaginative fellows at Hershel just didn't seem to share his
vision. Alas.

As to how this will all play out, well, that would be telling :) But things should take
some interesting turns in the very near future...
