Crab Rangoon

Without the yummy filling. Our intrepid captain & crew find themselves quite far from Cairns and square in the midst of characters at the highest levels of His Majesty's government. Over their head would be a polite understatement. Mr Everett, CAPT, RNAS, is likely staring at the end of his career for King & Country if anyone on the Flying Cloud makes the slightest error. The msg to Cairns from Rangoon would likely need to be relayed given the radio technology available so each station that took the traffic. Assuming the relays were RNAS stations, each station would be able to decrypt the standard cipher, which was the means Everett ordered the msg to be transmitted. The msg content then reveals the who (Everett & the Flying Cloud), what (info gleaned in Rangoon), where (that they are in Rangoon), why (on Michaelson's orders). There's a lot of ears very interested in this msg and it's contents will be in Whitehall, among other places, quite promptly.

Good call on most counts, Pastor Mac. Events in the latest episode spell out your predictions about revealing the contents of the message, as well as Everett’s intentions that they be revealed to his adversaries. However, I don’t believe he’s “in over his head”. He may lack Michaelson’s or the Warfields’ Machiavellian instincts, but he certainly has a chessmaster’s mind for intuition and deduction. He also seems to be adept at being underestimated. Some people just have that knack, even after they’ve proven themselves to be quite worthy adversaries. They make you think over and over that they just got lucky that time.

Meanwhile, let’s all be thankful that we’re not an inspector named Scott right now…
The tide is out; please leave a message.

Indeed, if anything our dear captain proves himself quite resourceful. It is as if he's played "the game" before in some form, possibly during the War. Although we've learned about aspects of both his personal as well as professional life, it's still just nuggets to illuminate a particular episode. Maybe our dear Paul will illuminate us further on Mr Everett... :-)

Was ever there any doubt? Everett only be an 'ordinary airship captain', but you don't reach command rank without a certain amount of political savvy.

There will indeed be some revelations. And there may already have been some clues :)
